A founder of Gorby Peters Law, Mary Donne Peters represents governments, corporations and individuals in high-stakes cases around the country, as well as high-growth companies in corporate matters around the world.

Following her graduation with honors from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Mary Donne was selected to serve a prestigious clerkship for the Honorable Emory M. Sneeden, Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Sneeden, now deceased, was then the immediate past Chief Counsel for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and had previously served as the Chief Justice of U.S. Military Court of Appeals. Following her clerkship, Mary Donne was selected to serve in the Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where she analyzed proposed billion-dollar mergers for the Antitrust Division and served on the trial team for a large price-fixing trial in Florida. She later served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District in South Carolina, focusing her work on prosecuting larger drug cases, bank fraud, and public corruption.

Today, Mary Donne handles complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters and serves as outside general counsel for a number of high-growth companies, particularly in the technology and health care sectors. Drawing on her background as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, she also defends people accused of white-collar crime and conducts corporate internal investigations. Mary Donne is the author of a popular legal reference book and has published numerous articles for lawyers and businesses. She has been a guest lecturer before an international business annual convention, a national legal organization, as well as dozens of legal and judicial education programs. Drawing on her decades of experience representing individuals and entities in privacy and security matters, Mary Donne recently co-founded Ask A Privacy Officer, LLC-- a privacy training company based in Georgia with a national focus.

In addition to her extensive legal work, Mary Donne is also actively involved in her community. She serves as Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Directors for Girls, Inc. of Greater Atlanta, an organization that provides research-based programming to help girls overcome the effects of gender inequity, while inspiring them to be self-sufficient, responsible, and economically-empowered. Mary Donne also serves on the Board of Directors for the Southern Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross — one of the largest such entities in the country.
